At Lightful, we are dedicated to developing innovative AI tools that empower nonprofits to share more effective communications, covering everything from social media management to persona creation and ethical storytelling. Our vision has always been for these tools to work together, enabling nonprofit staff to save time and achieve better results. The latest feature we have developed is our enhanced AI Compose Tool, now integrated with Lightful’s Persona Creator.

This powerful combination allows people to harness the Persona Creator, a tool integrated into our platform to help build marketing personas, along with Compose, which provides AI-generated feedback on social media content. Combining these two features makes it easier to target specific audience groups with social media content that will appeal to their interests, generating more engagement.

How does it work?

Start by creating your persona in the Persona Creator, where you can receive AI-powered feedback on the quality of your persona, and when you’re ready to compose a post on the Lightful Social Platform, you’ll find an updated feedback option with dropdown selections. Simply choose your desired persona, click “Get Feedback”, and receive tailored guidance on how to engage your selected audience effectively. It’s as easy as that!

This enhanced functionality is designed to help nonprofit professionals create more impactful social media content, ensuring that their messaging resonates deeply with the right audiences. It’s about reaching the right people with the right message, at the right time... and in the right place - all driving results!

In this example, I am getting feedback from the perspective of a donor persona I have previously created called Patricia. Patricia’s is an ambassador, which means she is willing to advocate for the causes she cares about. She is also a teacher and is passionate about women's health. Knowing this about Patricia, the tool suggests a engaging her through a call to action that involves her community.

One of the key foundations of Lightful's BRIDGE programme is supporting nonprofits to understand their audience more effectively, so that their communications are more tailored, targeted and strategic. This new integration between Compose and Persona Creator is the latest update in our series of AI-powered tools, built using our experience and expertise in nonprofit communications. Our aim is to enable more nonprofits to benefit from the power of generative AI technology.

Ready to elevate your social media presence with our improved tools? Explore the Lightful Social Platform and tailor your content to your organisation’s personas using our compose tool, and experience how it can transform your communications.

Building resilience in Bolton: the impact of digital skills on local charities and communities

Bolton is a vibrant town, with strong communities and a well-loved football club whose charity, Bolton Wanderers in the Community, has been supporting residents of Bolton for over 30 years. Communities in Bolton, however, face multiple challenges, including high levels of social deprivation. There are 1,672 Voluntary, Charity and Social Enterprises (VCSEs) in the area who exist to support the people of Bolton, but they themselves, in the years following a pandemic that drove interaction online, can find it difficult to find and connect to those who need them. Bolton CVS, an infrastructure organisation dedicated to supporting charities in Bolton, identified a critical need to support them with digital capacity building so that these communities could reconnect, and Bolton's VCSEs could reach the people they were founded to serve.

Charity Digital Skills Report 2024 - Lightful's Response

Every year, we wait with baited (and sometimes apprehensive) breath for the annual Charity Digital Skills Report to be released. It’s become something of a key marker of the UK charity sector’s state of digital maturity, and forms a key part of how we at Lightful measure the need for our digital training programmes. Having quickly read the (119 page!) report, here are my *hot takes* and thoughts on solutions:
