Instagram launches new Stickers for Stories
On 30th April, Instagram launched the Donation Sticker for nonprofits in the U.S. People will now be able to donate to their favourite causes as well as set up a fundraiser for them. With 500 million Stories uploaded every day to Instagram, this new feature offers huge potential. Hopefully, the UK is not far behind!
As well as the Donate Sticker, Instagram has now rolled out Quiz stickers too, which could be a fun way to engage your audience as well as test how much they know about your charity or cause.
LinkedIn launches Reactions for posts
LinkedIn has launched five Reactions for posts – like, celebrate, love, insightful and curious. Obviously it’s very similar to Facebook’s reactions which have been around for years, however the reactions are tailored to a professional audience and the type of content people share on LinkedIn.
LinkedIn said on their blog, “You can use Celebrate to praise an accomplishment or milestone like landing a new job or speaking at an event, or Love to express deep resonance and support, like a conversation about work life balance or the impact of mentorship. Insightful can help you recognize a great point or interesting idea, while Curious lets you show your desire to learn more or react to a thought-provoking topic. As a poster, these new reactions can help you better understand the impact your posts are having.”
Facebook publishes guide for Instagram creators
Facebook has published a guide and tips for people to make the most of Instagram. Whilst some of it is fairly obvious – such as ‘keep it real’ and ‘post frequently and get creative’, there is some useful information. For example, did you know that you can now upload up to a minute’s video on Stories instead of the original 15 seconds? There’s also some useful tips for promoting IGTV video, based on their data and insights.
Twitter will allow you to hide replies from June
Twitter will launch a new feature, in June, that will allow users to hide replies to their tweets which is another way that the platform is trying to hit back at trolls. For charities who receive a lot of abuse on Twitter when posting about certain topics, this will be a welcome feature – just like it is on Facebook. It’s one way we can reclaim social for good.
